For the second animation, I chose to go a more realistic route.

I gave the planets an orbit based on what their actual revolution speed would be.

​

The textures were shamelessly taken from http://planetpixelemporium.com/ Some planets also included bump maps and normal maps.

As a request from a friend, the sun has sunglasses on it.

​

The sun is a light source, but in reality the sun just glows, and an actual light source is placed inside it. No ambient light was added since there's no ambient light in space.

Shadows were left off for this animation, as the fast rotation speed of the closer planets would cause the further planets to rapidly flash.
