Treasure Chest:
Wire-frame Version:
For this animation, instead of modeling the treasure chest in Maya. I instead chose to use Blender, which is an open source 3D graphics software very similar to Maya. I chose to use Blender because I was more familiar with the tools and hotkeys of that software.
Since I used Blender, I had to export the model as a .obj file and then import that into Maya. The texturing and animation was all done in Maya.

The best part of using Blender was the ability to use the "array" tool. which allowed me to make the countless rows of small circles with no problems. As an example, here's a weird chest spiral that only took me a minute to make thanks to the array tool
